Prague Airport to the City: Trolleybus, Metro, Bus and Taxi

Prague has no rail link to the airport, but the transfer question still has a cheap and reliable answer: one CZK 40 ticket covers trolleybus and metro all the way to the centre.

Trolleybus 59 + Metro A: the default

Trolleybus 59 (it replaced bus 119 in March 2024) leaves from outside both terminals every 4 to 10 minutes and reaches Nádraží Veleslavín on Metro line A in about 16 minutes. Change there to the metro and you are at Můstek or Muzeum in the centre roughly 40 to 45 minutes after leaving the terminal. A 90-minute PID ticket costs CZK 40 and covers the whole journey; buy it in the PID Lítačka app, at machines, or by contactless on board. Bus 100 does the same job toward Zličín on Metro B for the western side of the city.

Airport Express: for train connections

The Airport Express (AE) coach runs nonstop from both terminals to Praha hlavní nádraží, the main railway station, about every 30 minutes (from the airport roughly 6:30 am to 10:00 pm, toward the airport 5:30 am to 9:00 pm). It costs CZK 200, children 6 to 15 CZK 100. It earns its premium only when you are catching a train; for the city centre itself, the CZK 40 route wins.

Night, taxi and apps

After the trolleybus stops, night bus 910 runs to I. P. Pavlova about every 30 minutes between roughly midnight and 4:00 am, same CZK 40 ticket, about 40 minutes. A metered taxi to the centre takes about 30 minutes at roughly CZK 500 to 800, more in peak traffic; Bolt typically quotes CZK 400 to 700 and Uber runs somewhat higher. Both apps pick up at marked points outside the terminals.

If you are staying by the airport

Every hotel in this guide moves you without the city fare: the Courtyard by covered walkway, the Ramada and Sky Hotel by free shuttle, the Hotel Meritum by arranged transfer, and AeroRooms by not leaving the terminal at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest way from Prague Airport to the centre?

Public transport on one CZK 40 ticket: trolleybus 59 from either terminal to Nádraží Veleslavín, then Metro A into the centre, about 40 to 45 minutes door to door. The 90-minute ticket covers the whole journey including the transfer.

Is there a direct bus to the main train station?

Yes, the Airport Express (AE) runs nonstop to Praha hlavní nádraží roughly every 30 minutes, from the airport about 6:30 am to 10:00 pm, for CZK 200 (children 6 to 15 half price). Take it when you are connecting to a train; otherwise the CZK 40 route is faster value.

How do I get to the city at night?

Night bus 910 runs to I. P. Pavlova about every 30 minutes between roughly midnight and 4:00 am on the standard CZK 40 ticket, taking about 40 minutes. Otherwise Bolt and Uber operate around the clock, typically CZK 400 to 700 to the centre.
