Prague Airport Terminal Guide: T1, T2 and the Schengen Split
Prague Airport’s terminal question is really a border question: the two main terminals split by Schengen status, and that split decides your queue time, your meeting point and occasionally your hotel.
Terminal 1: non-Schengen
Terminal 1 handles flights leaving the Schengen area: the UK and Ireland, North America, the Middle East and the rest. Departures clear passport control after security, so add time. Airside you will find the ERSTE Premier Lounge (until its mid-2026 rebrand it operated as the Mastercard Lounge) and the transit-area section of AeroRooms, the airport’s own rooms, which lets non-Schengen connections sleep without entering the Schengen area.
Terminal 2: Schengen
Terminal 2 handles Schengen flights, with security but no border check. It also holds most of the airport’s rest infrastructure: the free Kooperativa Relaxation Zone between Piers C and D airside, the free showers in Hall D (third floor, 5:00 am to 10:00 pm) and its own ERSTE Premier Lounge. The two terminals are adjacent and connected landside; the walk is a few minutes.
Terminal 3 and the hotels
Terminal 3 serves private and general aviation, and matters to this guide for one reason: the Ramada by Wyndham stands directly at it, with a free shuttle to Terminal 2. The nearest beds otherwise: AeroRooms inside T1, the Courtyard by Marriott a covered 100-metre walkway from T2, the Holiday Inn on the grounds, and the Sky Hotel and Hotel Meritum a short shuttle ride out in Ruzyně.
Choosing by itinerary
Early non-Schengen departure: AeroRooms or the Courtyard, and add passport-control time. Early Schengen departure: anything on the airport block works; the Courtyard’s walkway is the shortest morning. Late arrival with a car to collect or drop: the Ramada or the Ruzyně pair. The transfer guide covers the city connection from every option.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in Prague?
The border. Terminal 1 handles non-Schengen flights (the UK, North America, the Middle East and similar), so departures pass passport control. Terminal 2 handles Schengen flights with no border check. Check which your airline uses for the specific route, not the airline overall.
Can I walk between the terminals?
Yes. Terminals 1 and 2 are adjacent and connected landside; the walk between check-in halls takes a few minutes through the connecting building. Trolleybus 59 and the Airport Express stop outside both.
Which hotel is closest to each terminal?
AeroRooms is inside Terminal 1 itself. The Courtyard by Marriott reaches Terminal 2 by a covered walkway of about 100 metres. The Holiday Inn is on the airport grounds near both, and the Ramada stands at Terminal 3 with a free shuttle to Terminal 2.
